WESG 2019 - 2020 APAC Finals Will Be Held in Malaysia on 3 - 5 Jan 2020
January 2020, 61 teams consisting of 260 players from over 58 countries will converge in Malaysia to compete for the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) 2019 - 2020 Asia Pacific (APAC) Finals.
It is known as the largest esports event in South East Asia, WESG offers a prize pool of $300,000 across four big gaming titles known as Dota 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Starcraft 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2020.
"Not only are we bringing back the APAC Final this year, it is the first time that we're hoping this event outside of China, that is a huge milestone for us." said Alibaba Esports Senior Director of Global Esports Jason Fun, whose the main organiser of the event.
The winners of the APAC Final will then be proceeded to WESG Grand Final, which will be held in Chogqing, China.
"The esports industry in Malaysia is growing rapidly and we are glad to see tremendous support from various industry players. We hope that through this event, we can bring new level of esports competition to Malaysia. said co-organiser and Esports International Group Project Director Chris Leung.
"We are thrilled that Malaysia is the host of the APAC Final. Malaysia has long had an amazing community of fans and gamers that drives the games ecosystem," said co-organizer and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Vice-President Hadi Samsudin.
The event will be held at Sunway Convention Centre from January 3rd - 5th.
